Why you’re not achieving as you should

All of us have goals. Whatever these goals maybe, they actually propel us to get more out of life. They motivate us to seek better opportunities. They push us to grow. Some people seem to have no problem achieving their goals. Some, on the other hand, don’t seem to be able to make any progress. What’s happening? Why aren’t you achieving your goals?

Here are some thoughts to ponder on:

  • You don’t have clearly defined goals

Goals should be specific as they can be. Think of your dream car. What color will it be? What are the specifications? What cool features would you like for it to have? How many doors? How would you like the upholstery to be? What brand?

How about your dream house? How many floors? How many bedrooms? How many bathrooms? Will it have a garden? How big? How about a swimming pool? How deep will it be? How many garages will you have? Where will you be having your dream house?

Be specific. Your mind should have a clear picture of it. The more specific it is, the more your mind looks for ways to actually make it happen.

  • You’re working hard, but not working smart.

You do the same thing over and over, even when you don’t get results. You apply all the strength you have to your goals, without strategizing how you can apply this strength more effectively. If you are not getting what you want, it’s a signal that it’s time to change your strategies. Seek advice. For sure, someone has already done what you need to do. See how you can do this in a different, smarter, more effective way. Learn from your mentors.

  • You’re living in Fear.

You avoid taking action because some of the things you have to do you don’t know about, and that intimidates you. You’d rather delay the process as much as possible than actually face the problem and the intimidation it gives you.

Good results come to people who pay their dues, not people who avoid the work. The fear isn’t going to go away by waiting it out. Be courageous. Face the fear and do it anyway.

  • You complicate things.

You may not be aware of this but you’re actually complicating things. There are actually simpler ways to do things than you may think. Look at it at the perspective of a child. Sometimes, you need other people to point this out to you. Be open to feedback.

  • You don’t finish the fight.

You give up before you even get anywhere! It’s normal to have the feeling to take flight in the face of danger or inconveniences. But you need to overcome this feeling. This is the point that differentiates those who deserve the goal and those who are just taking a poke at it. Persevere, press on, and it’s a matter of time before you reap the fruits of your labor. Who knows, your next step might just be the last step needed for you to arrive at your destination.

  • You forget about your goals.

Never ever forget your goals. Read about them often. Post pictures on your wall. Remind yourself all the time. When you are reminded of your dreams frequently, you’re more likely to keep giving it a shot.
