Giving other people value

Remember your thoughts do not bless anybody but you. Even if you think highly about anyone or no matter how much you respect someone, if you won’t tell them or somebody else about that, you will never be able to add value to anyone.

The idea is that we need to let others know what we are thinking about them—especially if these thoughts are good for them. We need to make the timely calls and write the short e-mails or text messages to let people know when they are doing a great job. If we keep it to ourselves, the other person is not built up or encouraged to do a consistent or better job and consequently does not receive the benefits of hearing a good compliment.

If you see someone in your organization doing a great job on a task, you need to stop by his cubicle or office afterwards and give him a few words of praise and encouragement. If you read somebody’s article, and it captures your attention and you learned something new because of it, you need to comment that the author did a great job.

Simple words of encouragement really help someone move to the next level or improve in their career. These simple words can help others take a leap of faith and start a new business or take more calculated risks to improve their life.

The key is really just to learn how to communicate what you want to say to people. This is an area that you also have to focus on every single day. Trying to learn how to better communicate with people is a lifetime process. You need to learn about the best way of approaching people and to try to convey the message to them as clearly as possible. There’s no excuse for not being able to communicate with the people who need your voice. You’re supposed to be a person who uses your business to build other people, not use people to build your business.

Because the world is filled with negativity and apathy, you should be the one to take charge. Don’t be a part of the system. Even if the system is going to threaten existence of your business, that shouldn’t stop you from becoming the encourager of your people. In fact, being the one who encourages people will actually benefit you. When you encourage other people especially those in your organization, the more they’ll be encouraged to work and spread positivity around them, too. When they are encouraged to work, you’ll have more projects covered and more tasks completed in no time. That’s the power of saying the things that people need to hear. Encourage and build your people, in the process, you build yourself.

Your thoughts

How about you? What do you do to help build people? Are you the type who does this frequently? Have you ever received words of encouragement? What did it do to you? What other things would you like to add?
