iPad 2 Event March 2: Speculations, speculations and more speculations

It’s official, Apple is finally “unveiling” the iPad 2 on the 2nd of March in San Francisco at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater, as it puts an end to all the speculations and rumors that have long surrounded the “mystical” second generation tablet.

Not that I don’t appreciate Apple’s efforts of “unveiling” anything, but I think that there really isn’t much to unveil because we know that Apple is going to be updating every year (or so the trends go) and that there will not be too much of a change to the original product. So why “unveil” it? I hope you get what I mean… if it’s a new product, then by all means do it.

Anyway, I acknowledge Apple’s prowess in changing the perspective and needs of its customers. And it does this to the point that even if the product (upon careful investigation) isn’t really “the” product that has it all, but customers are left to think and feel that this is really what they deserve, and these products are enough or even more than enough for them. So customers like me don’t feel being ripped off. That’s just how things happen.

So this is a post of more speculations about the tablet. Apple’s finally announcing the date of the official unveiling of the iPad 2 didn’t really keep the rumors and speculations down, in fact, it heightened the excitement and so we are here talking about some final speculations before the final product comes out:

It will have a camera (hopefully not two)

The speculations about a front-facing camera and a rear-facing camera have not left the minds of the fans especially now that the unveiling will happen in a matter of days.
Guys, I am for the front-facing camera, just so that I can enjoy the benefits of FaceTime and Skype and all the other apps that need at least a front camera. But a rear-facing camera? I don’t really know about you, but I’d rather bring my iPhone with me in case I need to go incognito to catch my friends’ partners hooking up with other people—or whatever you need to do with your camera.

Again, I can’t picture myself holding a large slate in front of people’s faces just to get their picture. I don’t know. It’s just weird and downright impractical.

Better display (crossing fingers)

I declare that the iPad 2 is going to have a better display than what it has now. I don’t know if it’s gonna be like what the iPhone 4 has now, but I’m pretty positive that if it doesn’t have a retina display, it’s gonna have something similar. And what could be more similar with the retina display than the retina display itself?

It would break my heart and millions of other hearts if the iPad 2 isn’t going to get the same treatment as its little phone brother.

Your thoughts

What about you? What’s your take on the iPad 2? Are you excited about the announcements or are you excited for the next years to come?  What do you like to add to the speculations?
