iOS update: the only answer to slow iPhone 3G

It’s not always a sunny day back in the Apple camp. When Apple released iOS 4 in June, users of the older iPhones models who upgraded to the latest iOS software whined about slowness and really short battery life. To this Apple reassured that they immediately looked into the matter.

Three weeks have passed, give or take, since then the only “update” that anyone heard from Apple is that: “Software update coming soon.” Someone actually contacted the boss and that’s what he got from the boss, Steve Jobs, supposedly. Hmm, that’s weird.

If it is indeed an actual reply from Mr. Jobs himself, I think that saying that you’re going to release an update “soon” isn’t actually specific. It’s possible the update he’s referring to might be iOS 4.1. If that’s the case, there’s no need to “wait” because that one is already in developers’ hands for testing, as of now.

A representative from Apple said there was no update to the company’s earlier comment that it is investigating iPhone 3Gs with iOS 4-related performance glitches.

Readers have complained a lot; while Apple’s own forums are collecting comments with iPhone 3G owners really not taking this lightly after the serious effect of the iOS 4 update. Some even claimed that a lot of glitches involved the phone freezing when browsing the web, and other things that their handsets have not done or experienced befor the update to iOS 4. Some have tried downgrading their iPhone 3G to iOS 3 and amazingly, they are seeing improved outcomes.

I’m sure the people in Apple have something to make them busy nowadays. I hope that they do get this fixed the soonest.
