Cliche: Out of the Box?

Is ‘outside the box’ thinking so commonplace now that it has become cliche? If everyone strives to be out of the box, is it still considered ‘out of the box?’ Many times people assume it a praiseworthy quality and try to be out of the box for the sake of it.

Perhaps a better question to ask ourselves is not how in or out of the box we are, but rather what kind of creative solutions we can bring to the table. The success of these solutions is not on their unexpectedness, but their viability. Don’t always ignore the simple and expected route if it works.
