FedEx Logo: Brilliant or Lucky?
I often see the Fedex logo as a great example of a logo done right. Simple, yet sophisticated. Sophisticated because the space between the e and the x forms an arrow pointing forward.

The first time I saw this mentioned on a design blog I did not buy it, but then I saw the same thing a few times. So I pose the question to you – is this really a logo of sophistication, or is just a very beneficial coincidence? It seems like the same could be said for the capital letter G in most fonts. Would we credit a company for writing ‘GO’ and saying the G looks like an arrow?

After writing this I found the answer – it was very much on purpose, so kudos to the designer

I feel that this is like trying to interpret what an author meant when he wrote a piece of fiction… maybe he was just writing a good story, and the English professors of the world want to make it more than it is… or maybe whoever designed the FedEx logo was brilliant.
The question is, do we get the message?

Check out FedEx logo in Arabic….

Where can I find it, Haroon?

(Well, it hasn’t come out as coincidental as the English version, anyways…!)
MK
Oh it looks more apparent in the Arabic one to me!
Andrew Welch
Yes, I think this definitely settles the question.

To be honest though, I never noticed it in the English logo until OA pointed it out. I wonder how effective it is. But then again, when I saw the Arabic one it was an ‘aah interesting’ moment!
