On The Right Track?

“Even though you are on the right track – you will get run over if you just sit there” -Will Rogers

I thought this was an interesting quote in light of the recent debate over the Apple iPad. Apple is clearly dictating its own terms with this device, and how people should use it. Tablet concepts have been around for years, e-readers have been around, and it is not as if Apple accidentally left out Flash and multi-tasking. It seems they clearly have a vision of how they want their product to be used, and a vision for why this particular way is most beneficial for the largest number of people.

Whether it works or not, only time will tell, but at least they’re moving – and moving with a splash. Many other tablet concepts and mock ups that have been rumored online (and with more functionality) have been, well, sitting on the tracks despite having more of what the online community seems to be demanding from such a product.

I think they are not allowing flash for commercial reasons. Perhaps they want to move people away from it?

However, to not allow multi-tasking is just terrible!
